The United States commences the year with the Uranus/Pluto square moving towards a meeting in the 8th and 11th houses. They will meet up the first time in June, but we're seeing the effects already. Pluto is Power and corporations and Uranus is the people and it's revolution, the desire for independence, democracy and to be free. In the US chart Pluto is in the 8th house of "sex, death and taxes" as the 8th has been called in the old days. It's certainly about power and wealth, and it's in its own 'house'; the 8th being the Scorpio house in the flat chart (where Aries starts in the first house). So, it came 'home' when Pluto entered Capricorn, and it will stay for about 12 years. Pluto in Cap is like Pluto and Saturn hooking up.....power, domination, control, judgmental, critical, wealth and 'lording it over'. This seems to be why they are so 'full of it', think they're invincible and don't even try to pull the wool over our eyes.
Uranus in Aries, interestingly, is in the 11th house, it has come home, too, in the U.S. chart. The 11th is the money house of the career, or in this case, the money of the US, or ...yes.....US, we the people. It's also the house of the media, tv and getting the word out to the public. In this day and age, it's going to talk about the internet and things going viral and the people knowing what's going on instantly. Each being in their own 'house', they can take a deep breath, heave a big sigh, and know they are in like energy, so they feel empowered. There's going to be a lot of clashing in the coming year, as the 99%ers take back their country.
The year starts with Mars in Virgo, but it goes retrograde on Jan 24th and makes a swath backwards til April 14th, so it holds off a bit, but by July 17th, it will be in Libra and create a grand cross to U/P with the Moon in Cancer. Look for something explosive around that time unfortunately, leading up to it. Mars will be in the 5th house moving in on the US's Saturn, and the moon will be in the 2nd house of money. Probably not a good time to make important plans during that time. Not that it will affect all of us directly, but you never know what's going to be going on in the national and international fronts.
Saturn in Libra, challenges the US Mercury and Pluto opposition, moving into a T square position to it. This first occurs at the end of 2011 on Nov 19th (Mercury_ and Dec 21 (Pluto). Christmas may be a little tight this year. Saturn squares Pluto again on Mar 28th in 2012, and Sept 14th. It squares Mercury again on May 9th and Aug 10th. Saturn is authority and Mercury is communication, so we will hear some stern words from those in the hierarchies of government, while Pluto tends to be a buddy of Saturn and we'll hear some bullying or in other ways being brought up short and the two bullies of the Universe dumping on another country or elements within this country. That should be 'fun' right around Christmas!
While that's happening, the main thrust of this Uranus square Pluto occurence affecting the U.S. chart, is that in 2011 it opposed its Jupiter. Jupiter is Sag energy, and it rules politics and the law and religion, among other things. We've seen the clash between religion and politics, but also trying to meld them together. Whatever happened to a strong separation of church and state as written by the founding fathers? So, Pluto from the bully pulpit is trying to throw it's weight around and it's soooo cocky about its power and domination, that those in politics just don't see the need to cover their tracks anymore, thinking nothing can be done to them. Pluto opposes Jupiter one last time during theis period, on Nov 16th of 2011, then it moves on.....but Uranus now moves in to square it in 2012.
It's like Uranus has been sitting in the wings, observing, and now that Pluto has strutted about and revealed himself for the bully he is, Uranus is rallying his forces, and will start to square Jupiter in Cancer from Aries. Now, the People, as ruled by Aquarian Uranus, start to fight back. Uranus will square Jupiter on Apr 16th of 2012, Oct 18th, and Feb 5 of 2013. We'll also feel it a bit on July 17th of 2013 as Uranus
goes retrograde. Uranus wants freedom, it is the bastion of democracy, and it chafes in being held down. It gave Pluto its head, and now with it stuck out there, it's going to come out swinging.
While Uranus is squaring Jupiter, is finishing up a square to Venus in the US chart, the last contact being on Feb 13, So while the Pluto energy is waning, the Uranus square to Venus, the 'person' of this chart, it has started the rebelliousness that contines stronger when it reaches Jupiter.
In the fall of 2012 when Saturn moves into Scorpio, it trines Venus/Jupiter in Cancer, so we should start receiving some support again, along with Uranus sextiling itself on July 13th as it retrogrades, opening up some possibilities we hadn't taken into consideration before.
In the battle of the Congress against the president, Sen. John Boehner is Pluto because he's a Scorpio, and President Obama is Uranus, because he has Aquarius Rising. Being the representative for the people I'm nigh positive he'll win re election when everything turns around with Uranus taking over.
Astrology is all about seeing what the challenges are coming up, so we're prepared for them, and being forwarned, get thru them easier. The easy stuff more or less takes care of itself. Fortunately, we always have jupiter out there as a burst of good luck and good fortune. When it's in a chart and challenged it can bring up stuff about control, and politics and being grandiose, but transiting, most often it gives us a breath of fresh air. To that end, in 2012, Jupiter is working behind the scenes in the 12th house for the first half of the year. Then on July 5m it enters the first house as it segues into Gemini, and July 24th Jupiter conjuncts Uranus; some sudden good fortune we hadn't anticipated. It also happens on Dec. 21st of 2012. ....and March 11 of 2013 to extend it to it's 3 times. On Sept 2nd it trines Saturn, supporting an authority figure lending assistance, and does so again on Nov 4th.
Life is all about balance, and when one element gets out of control and takes too much power, another comes in to bring it back to where it has a better chance to work for all. With Uranus, that can be done with violence and sudden changes, when we don't flow with it. We need to accept change and not dig in our heels.
I started last year's article here with: "President Obama entered office under a cloud. Pluto was opposing his Cancerian Venus, just as it was in the US chart, for both Venus' are in early Cancer. Pluto conjuncting, squaring or opposing Venus, is frequently a time of physical, emotional or mental abuse as mentioned above for a person. Pluto squared Obama's Venus in the early 70's when he was around 11....so it would be interesting to know what happened back then, for it did repeat itself in the last couple of years by being attacked from all angles again, even in the face of the good he was doing. Like with President Bill Clinton, the opposition was not going to let him get anything done, and was besmerching his good name in the process.
"Well, that's done, and the energy that got him into office, Pluto trine Pluto will peak in 2011. A trine is a harvest, and those born in the early 60's are seeing a harvest of all the hard work they have put in over the years. ,,,, "
So, even with this trine, President Obama has still had pressure unlike any other president. Good he had the trine! Even if other things are going awry, a good strong trine can ameliorate it somewhat. Obama and his team got Bin Laden on May 1st, as Pluto trined his Pluto. He has done many good things in the last three years that we will look back on with pride as the wheat is culled from the chaff and we can see it without the coloring of it from the opposite factions. He has his final Pluto trine on Dec. 22nd of 2011 and Pluto will bounce off of it as we go into the future.
In 2012, Pluto trines itself on September 18th, not directly but is close enough when it goes forward fro the retrograde to trigger the effects once more. Going into the election he should have another win on his tool belt. ...to mix a metaphor or two!
So, Pluto opposed Obama's Venus (Self) during this heavy duty period, when he and the country were being ground into the dirt with Pluto's heel. But also in 2011, Uranus squared his Venus, and on Feb 1st, of 2012, it will do so for the last time. But, it's like in a jury trial, where the last lawyer speaking gets the weight of being heard last, and it stays mostly in the mind; so with Pluto moving on, the changes he has made will resonate last. On Feb 13th Uranus trines Mercury, some good fortunes occurs via the written or spoken word. In May and July, Uranus moves into the power points from his original Neptune sextile Pluto YOD at birth, so some 'sudden awakening". I don't think that would bring any violence to him, but it will be a significant time. *
At age 50, one has their Chiron return, when Chiron gets back to where it started. For Barack it's in Pisces and in the first house, so there's a wounding that's up for review.....this time Neptune is in tow, however, so he can take it to a spiritual height to resolve it. In september, Chiron opposes Pluto in early Virgo, which it did shortly after birth. There might be something that comes up about his kidneys.
Uranus trines Mercury for the last time on Feb 13th, some good fortunate communication. At the end of April, Saturn squares itself and then sextiles Uranus, so what seemed to be a downer, turns out to work for him. This happens again at the end of August.
Jupiter begins in the 3rd house of communication and communicating with the populace, and when it goes into Gemini in the last half of the year it will be in his 4th house, at the bottom of the chart: his roots and foundation. This will help give him support for his agendas. Jupiter moves quickly thru the signs, so affects all the planets in a natal chart. For Obama the best seems to be from August thru November, Jupiter will sextile his Sun, which will give him power going into the elections.
* When JFK was assassinated the power point went thru an explosive cluster of planets on his composite chart with the United States......Obama doesn't have this, as Bush didn't either, being inaugurated in a 00 year, where most presidents taking office as such, didn't live out the office.
