Senator John Edwards was born on June 10, 1953 in Seneca, South Carolina at 7:02am EST. He has a Gemini Sun and Moon and Cancer rising..
Here's one candidate who was not born in the 40's with the Saturn/Pluto conjunction connoting a desire for power and domination. He does have Saturn and Neptune together as did all the people in 1953 and waxing to in the earlier years, and waning in the years afterwards. I've said elsewhere, that Saturn is the planets of REALITY and Neptune if UNREALITY. As you might expect, they don't get along really well. There's a dichotomy in their personalities between looking at the big picture (Neptune), and looking at the small picture (Saturn). Neptune can be generous and not put too much emphasis on money, while the Saturn energy is horrified. It steps in to get things back in order. It tends to depression as well, since both planets are prone to that, and being together, hardly helps. The duo does trine the sun however, which opens up the energy somewhat., but it is part of what is called a T square, that stresses Chiron and Uranus. It can sit on the spontaneous energy of Uranus.
Chiron is the primary 'planet' in the chart, having the most planets aspecting it. At some point in his early life, he went through a 'wounding' that plagues him in some way to this day....or he brought this in from another lifetime. Since it is in Capricorn and Saturn is part of the T square, it could be some authority figure or his father.
Edwards has Moon, Jupiter, Sun and Mars in Gemini. That's called a 'stellium' - 3 or more planets in a sign. It means he's pretty integrated in his thoughts, emotions and drive...but it also is a problem when a planet such as Pluto goes through it , or squares it or opposes it, because it moves so slowly and hits one natal planet after another, providing a sustained period of "growth" a euphemism for a rough patch. For Edwards, Gemini is opposed to Sag, which is where Pluto is now, of course. Pluto has opposed the Moon and Jupiter, now Pluto opposes the sun, and in a few years it will opposes Mars. Pluto can give power, even in an opposition, or it can indicate that there are powerful forces working against him. When Pluto enters the 6th house he has to be true to himself, and not get involved in any intrigue where the people he deals with can work against him. The good news is that Pluto in Sag is closing in on a trine to his natal Pluto in Leo. The Pluto trine to itself brings a harvest of reward to those who are actively involved in the process of their life. Dubya had Pluto trine itself too last time.
Gemini is quite a loquacious sign. It provides a quick and versatile mind; one that can 'talk off the top of his head', and be ready with a retort even though he may not know how it's going to come out, he works his way through it, and when spoken, it sounds very good. He also has Mercury close to Uranus in Cancer. Mercury is the ruler of Gemini, of course, so while it adds an element of emotion, being in Cancer, Uranus amps up the mind, making it almost genius....Uranus being the 'higher octave' of Mercury. Edwards Sun, Mercury, and Mercury are in the 12th house which means he's someone who'd rather be the coach or the political animal, rather than the star. So, the Uranus energy has brought him to the front, whether he likes it or not.
Geminis like government. They like participating in their own local governments. They are the ones you see scurrying around, doing errands, helping others, and being on the PTA or city council.
Edwards has most of his planets on the left side of the chart, which says he's a go getter, a self starter, who initiates action, and then puts out the fires as they come up.
Edwards has Pluto in his second house of money. Many people with a lot of money has Pluto placed there.
Edwards, as well as Dean, has Saturn moving through their first house of Self.....but Edwards is about half way thru and Dean will enter in a few months. By next year, Saturn will be in the same position as his Natal Uranus, but the election will be over by then, so it won't affect his pursuits this year.
Many Cancers go into public office, partially because the country was 'born' in Cancer. They feel like a father figure (or mother figure) to help fix the problems of their 'children' (populace). Edwards has his rising at 12 degrees of Cancer, and Uranus at 16. This is the first planet from the ascendant, and would indicate someone who has vision, looks to the future, and can flow with changing events fairly easily. Well, I say easily, because even though Uranus/Aquarius energy is eclectic and loves to get us out of our ruts, it's still a fixed sign, which drags its heels...but goes along anyway. Uranus is the planet for Aquarius, so a Cancer rising with Uranus prominent is a good mix for the head of the country, since the U.S. was born in Cancer, and has Aquarius at the top of the chart (could mean president) with Moon (populace) there. He'd have a good mix and compatibility with the U.S.
Chinese Astrology
John Edwards was born in the Year of the Snake and month of the Cat.
The Snake is very sensitive, and so is the Cat. It must be terrible for him to be attacked. He wants to be out there, providing the answers, and is askance that anyone would think otherwise. The Snake looks for support, yet will sometimes test it to see if 'they' really mean it, testing to the limits. They like to be right, hate to be wrong, and need to have the last word....remember Marcia Clark, from "OJ" fame? She was the last one to publish a book on the subject.
Well, I guess Edwards' Cat is one that's an outside cat, traveling around, but always returns home periodically. He has real issues and doubt about himself at times. He questions - "These people really like me, but can I live up to it?" probably on a subconscious level.
Edwards' YOD...Sun sextile Pluto with the power point to Chiron, and Uranus in the middle as the 'trigger' (like a bow and arrow).....The Sun is in the Cat energy, (see above). while Pluto is in the Area of the Snake....also see above. Uranus is in the Dragon area, saying he has a large appetite for things. The 'answer' 150 degrees from Sun and Pluto, is a power point on the other side, and it's where Chiron is. It's also in the Boar area. This says that he should resolve his wounding, and he can do that through being self constructive and looking at the positive things in life. Fortunately too, Neptune is just leaving this area.
