California was 'born' on September 8, 1850. It has a Virgo sun, Libra moon. The state's planets are really polarized between Virgo, Libra and Scorpio on one side and Ceres, Saturn, Pluto and Uranus in Aries on the other side, with only Chiron in Sag and Neptune in Pisces.
Jupiter is the planet directly in front of the sun at 29 Vir, lending the luck and golden streak to the state. The moon is in Libra, showing a need for emotional balance....and maybe the quest for the perfect bod. Uranus Pluto and Saturn are close together in Aries...a powerful combination! The planets of power and control - sometimes ruthless control - along side Uranus, the planet of electricity and earthquakes! Ah yes, we are in California aren't we?
It is said that California is always 20 years ahead of the rest of the nation....so we might speculate that the state was 'born' somewhere around 4:00 pm. This would give it Aquarius rising and be a leader in moving into breaking barriers.
The sun is at 15 degrees of Virgo, and.....where is Pluto right now? At 14 degrees of Sag, in a direct square position to California's sun sign. In the solar chart, it puts Pluto in the 4th house, at the bottom of the chart. Pluto in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th house of any chart, human or country or state, produces a powerful change. One isn't the same when Pluto leaves as when it entered.
With Pluto in the 4th of the solar chart of California, it is moving in the foundation, the roots of its chart. It is literally rocking the foundation of the state. By squaring the California sun sign it is challenging it. It is rocking the boat. Will Pluto, in the form of the power companies bring California's sun sign to its proverbial knees? Those of you who are born on September 8 and vicinity, know what California is going through; you are being pressured by some Plutonian figure in your life who is leaning on you. At some point, you must stand up to the bully, or be broken. This is what California is doing at this point, looking to become it's own power broker, and take it's empowerment from Pluto's challenge, rather than be rendered powerless.
In the midst of this, Pluto and Chiron conjuncted a year ago December 30th, inciting the 'wound' in the California consciousness, just as Chiron had passed it's natal Chiron at 5Sag. The wound had been chafing all year and then as Pluto came into square the sun, it came out in the open and festered.
Chinese Astrology - California was born in the Year of the Dog, the month of the Snake. In the United States' chart, Pluto is in the Dog part of it's chart, and here in California, the state was born in the Year of the Dog. The Dog energy relates to the psyche of sex as well as circulation in the body. And the Pluto/Saturn/Uranus combo in Aries in California's chart, shows up in the Dog/Circulation-Sex section, too. In fact, in the 8th house; the Scorpio house, ruling corporations and big business. We are literally having a 'circulation' problem with electricity.
Uranus and Pluto conjuncted in the 60's in Virgo right on the California sun sign, and triggered the hippie generation and sex out of marriage, displaying the Dog's need to be free of the intimacy and commitment sex usually demonstrates.
Since Pluto moves so slowly, we don't have cycles with Pluto ( i.e., the planet coming full circle back to its birth...well, it does but every 247 years, so it doesn't do so in a person's lifetime), we look at the conjunctions, squares and oppositions make. That shows us what energy patterns we are dealing with again. We can look to the mid 60's for the hippies, the flower children, free sex.....and quite possibly the basis for this power problem; as the square shows what has happened since Pluto's last encounter with the planet, in this case, the sun.
I believe this is a contrived shortage to achieve powerful ends. Powerful entities will go against the natural order of things like the Monkey. This shows us what we got when we got deregulation. Pluto and Saturn lash out and punish when they don't get what they want. In the face of being found out, they will stay the course. They will stand behind their statements.They will make you believe its your fault. Much like the Emperor with No Clothes, you can look at them naked and see the truth of the situation, but they will say "what's wrong with you? I have clothes on. What's your problem? You have a dirty mind". They will manipulate and control to get what they want.
