Keith Olbermann Chart

Well, of course Keith Olbermann is an Aquarian.....did I say that about Bill Maher, too? Yes, I did. Keith, who's 3 years younger than Bill, practically to the day, is another Aquarian who calls 'em as he sees 'em. Born on January 27, 1959 in New York City, he has an Aquarian sun, a Virgo moon, and....wish we had his rising time. Since I am a Virgo with Aquarius Rising, with his moon practically conjunct my sun, those are 3 reasons why I like him. His Pluto is close to my Sun, and I said in the Barak Obama article that another's Pluto on a person's sun is oppressive. In this case, the moon is stronger, and we tend to like people who have the same sign for the moon as we have for our sun.*

Keith made a name for himself as a sportscaster, and Mars in Taurus is a pivotal planet in his chart - it is squared by Venus an Chiron, trined by Mercury, opposed by Jupiter and Ceres and inconjuncted by Neptune and Pallas. Mars is known to rule sports and if it's in the 1st-4th-7th-10th houses, usually denotes a sports enthusiast and participant. In his solar chart, Mars is on the cusp of his 4th, and if we knew the time he was born, we would probably find that it is in one of these cardinal houses.

The United States is an Aquarian country due to the fact that Uranus, Aquarius' planet, is on the ascendant. That's why we fled from England and were determined to be independent, unfettered and free. Uranus encourages us to march to our own drummer, think outside of the box, and question authority. This is one of the reasons political satirists, and in this case, political satirist newscasters, are frequently Aquarian, because they distrust the establishment, resent the rules that aren't equal, and delight in bursting the bubble on pomposity. Thus, Keith Olbermann fits the stereotype very well.

He fits another quality of Aquarius well; he's indispensiable....no one is exactly like him. On his daily show, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC, he is a master, and when he takes a day off like he did for a few days in September for appendix surgery, no one can take his place. People can sit in for Tucker Carlson or Chris Matthews or Dan Abrams or Joe Scarbrough, and it isn't quite the same, but it works. Keith is Keith, and only Keith can be Keith, and the show sinks when he's not there. Aquarians are individuals, somewhat eccentric, eclectic and can't be predicted.

Olbermann has 3 planets in Aquarius - the sun, Chiron and Venus. To me, Venus is the planet for the native in the chart, and with Chiron conjuncting, there was a wounding early on in his life. The moon conjuncts Pluto in Virgo, which says that his mother is probably a very strong woman, and they have a very intense relationship. The planets are spread out all around the chart, with only Mars pulling them together.

Chinese Astrology: Keith Olbermann was born in the Year of the ....well, technically the year of the Dog, but only a few scant days before it moves into the Year of the Boar, on February 8th, so in my view, the Dog had been shape-shifting and on January 27th, he was mostly a Boar with a sign here and there of the Dog left. His life would have moved into the Boar shortly after his birth, and he'd have more Boar tendencies than Dog. As an Aquarian, he's got the Dog energy in him anyway, since the Dog correlates to Aquarius. The Boar is quite dour and tends to look at life from a jaded perspective. He needs to have friends around him who buck up his spirits and keep him focusing on the glass half full rather than half empty. Boars hate ridicule and humiliation and will do most anything to avoid it. They are artistic and creative.

Born in the Month of the Dog, it's not really surprising that he has never been married or had kids. The Dog is rather independent. The male Dog sees sex as a normal, healthy act, but prefers it in non committed relationships. One to one relationships are often hard for the Dog, because he has so many friends and interests and commitments, that one on one relationships can be confining and stifling. After all, the Dog equates to Aquarius and is another indication of needing to be independent and free (he also has Uranus in his 7th house of marriage in the solar chart, which would add independence to his life).

Currently: The power point of Nep/Pluto has been bouncing off of Mars for some 15 years - hence the sports connection and also having the visage of being 'ticked off' about things. This will remaiin for about 7 years til the point moves over Uranus, and then his focus will shift.

Saturn moved into Pluto in September of 2007, he had his appendix burst and was hospitalized and had surgery. Saturn moves on, but we have what is called a 'mutual reception' here, in that Pluto is moving in to oppose his Saturn at 2 degrees of Capricorn ...not til 2009, but it gets to 1 degree of Cap, close enough to cause trouble before it retrogrades. .....things aren't going to be easy for Keith for a spell. Although, as Saturn stirs up the pot, Pluto is moving in to trine natal Pluto, for 2009, and that can bring the harvest of a lifetime of work. He'll earn it, but he'll get it.

Interesting, as Pluto moved into the Large Intestine/Cat section of the chart on the Chinese overlay, that he had his appendix surgery.
