Barack Obama Chart

Presidential aspirant Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Star IQ website rectified the time to 1:06 pm. It gives him a Leo sun, Gemini moon with Scorpio rising. I've said many times, because I have Venus in Leo, I love Leos, and there are some aspects of Obama I like.....but there's something that turns me off. The most obvious thing is that his Pluto, at 6 degrees of Virgo, sits on my sun sign, and that indicates someone who would tend to have 'power over' me, and want to intimidate me, if we knew each other personally. And, I, with Aquarius rising and a need to be unfettered and free, I just didn't like the oppressive feeling I get.

Well, that was written in 2007, when Obama was new on the horizon. I was rooting for Hillary, altho I felt with the Neptune swoon all people born in the late 40's were going to experience, she wouldn't get the nomination, so I changed my allegiance to Obama. And, as I do so I get much more intrigued. Yes, I don't like that Pluto sitting on my sun, but now that we have the actual birth certificate, and it shows he has Aquarius rising as well, that makes it better. The power play of Pluto would be off set by the intelligence and tolerance of Aquarius.

When we look at a woman's chart running to crack the glass ceiling, it seems to be Aries energy they need. Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, pioneering doing things 'first'. Obama dosn't have any Aries or Mars prominent, with this birth chart, he does have Aquarius rising, and Aquarius breaks barriers, leads the way into the future. finds new way of accomplishing things, can be a genius - a very intelligent person, who can see new ways of doing things.

So, this chart interpretation needs to be adjusted according to the shift in house positions. The aspects would stay the same, except for the Moon perhaps.

His sun in Leo, shines in the 6th house of work and service, which certainly shows up in his early days of community service. Leos though, if they can't be a big fish in a big pond, can be a big fish in a little pond....now he's seeking the biggest pond of all. The sun is flanked on either side by Mercury and Uranus, giving him a quick, facile mind, with the ability to see things from a fresh perspective. He's able to take many ideas and process them and find a new answer.

In this chart, Saturn and Jupiter are hiding in the 12th house from Cap to Aquarius....this is an "either/or" position, as Saturn contracts, and Jupiter expands, so there are times when he's conservative and times when he can be very generous, depending on the need. Jupiter is the last planet the ascendant went over before he was born, which would energize the desire to be in law and/or politics.

The moon squares his Pluto, which says he probably had a strong mother. The moon is in the 4th house which doubles up his desire for home and family, and Pluto is in the 7th house of mate, and mom's mom. His grandmother raised him a lot of the time, so if mom wasn't a strong person, then grandma, taking over that role a lot of the time, may have been.

The YOD power point from Neptune sextile Pluto, which started in the 2nd house at birth, moved over his Venus in Cancer in around 96-98, that's when he started to come into his own. I don't know what the indicator is when Neptune wasn't sextile Pluto since 1941, but the power point of the Yod on the other side of the chart, show which planet is 'charged' as Nep/Pluto is moving in tandem. It started for him at birth with Pallas as the closest heavenly body (along with Juno) which gave him is intelligence and creative mind. The Yod kept moving, went over his moon in about 1973, where home and mom were important, creating family values, and then as stated, around '96-98 t went over Venus, and has remained bouncing off of it ever since. The power point energizing Venus brings magnetism and attraction, so that's where he gets his charm and appeal by the populace. Venus is Him in the chart (as opposed to the sun representing father, the moon representing mother, Mercury representing siblings, as well as the masculine and feminine aspects of himself)....but Venus is the native in the chart, and represents the charm, harmony and magnetic attraction. So, his energy has had the benefit of this for the last 10 years or so and soon it's going to go over Mercury at 1 of Leo, by 2010 approximatelly, and the energy will change. Right now, it's losing the intensity of Venus as Mercury pulls it in. After that though, it will go over his sun sign, and many years down the road, it will go over Uranus; there's a long term influence of being popular and standing out to the world. He has no Saturn or Neptune or Pluto getting in the way for a looooooooooong time.

In 1968, when he was approximately 7, Pluto and Uranus straddled each side of his natal Mars at 22 of Virgo. That was undoubtedly a very stressful time for him. In the early 70's Pluto squared his Venus, causing someone to be strict or abusive in some way, and now, as he goes for the presidency, Pluto is opposing his Venus, so we're seeing the energy recycle and play out again, so the scars of the 70's are being scraped off to revisit the pain and find healing answers.

Pluto is currently going thru his 11th house of money of the career, but more importantly for him, it's the Power of the word to the populace. He's very effective at this point in time of getting his word out there and having it receptive to the masses.

Neptune and Chiron straddle his ascendant iat 18 degrees of Aquarius. Neptune can bring a new spirituality to his life....or on a mundane level, maybe it gives him the ability to deal with oil executives (Neptune ruling oil). Uranus has been going thru the 1st house of Self for the past 8 years almost, which has been the energy that caused him to burst on the political scene and make the advancement as rapidly as he did. Now Uranus moves to the 2nd house of money and talents. I heard recently where GWBush was getting $400K a year.....I thought they had upped it to a million a year...no?

Saturn is in a sticky position, squashed between Pluto and Mars at the end of the 7th house. Saturn conjuncted Pluto the last time on Jan 31st of 2007, so he got a lot of the harshness out of the way. Saturn will conjunct Mars on December 31st of 2008, Uranus has been opposing Mars back and forth, the last time was June 27th when Uranus went in retrograde and the plane dropped dramatcally in the air, but fortunately was straightened just in time. It will oppose Mars again on March 12th, and Dec 1st of 2009 as Uranus goes direct the second time. Saturn conjncts Mars again on August 29th of 2009. Now the Saturn opposition to Uranus forming in the sky on 11/4th of 2008 and Feb 5th and Sept 15th isn't directly affecting Mars at the same time, but it will be 'in orb' . Mars in the 8th is a little dicey.

Chinese Astrology: Obama was born in the Year of the Ox, the month of the Dragon, the Hour of the Dog and the minute of the Rat. Born in the Year of the Ox, there was someone who provided for him, took care of him, provided his needs, wants and desires, and yet there was a hidden agenda to keep him close and have him be beholden to them so as not to leave....making it too comfortable, in effect, for the Ox to break out of the yoke, and go over the hill to new adventures. But, at some point, the Ox native has to, not to get wound up in resentment and frustration. The energy of the 44th president is Ox energy. Will that be enough to pull Obama in? Can't hurt. The 44th president will be in the mold of John Adams and FDR, and Obama is being referred to in the same vein as FDR, who certainly took care of an economy floundering after the 1929 crash.

Born in the month of the Dragon (as it relates to the 5 element meridian system), Barack has a natural need to charm and be charming, to entertain and make people smile, to love the adulation of the crowd and being in the center of the spotlight. The Dragon has needs and desires that can be huge and need to be kept filled. He may like to accumulate things just to 'have' them. In the extreme, Dragons can have obsessive-compulsive issues.

Born in the Hour of the Dog and the minute of the Rat, now we are pretty sure of the birth time (I don't think we can ever be positive with celebrities) .....the Dog correlates to Aquarius, so we get the energy that is forward looking, open to hearing divergent views, may have had a 'clinker' in his young life that set him on a path to change the world. The Dog can be a lover like Clinton and probably W, or they can be a little inhibited and uptight. Dogs can be the most loyal and love unconditionally, or ......if challenged, they can be territorial and bark....don't get them angry. Born in the minute of the Rat, he can be altruistic and do what's necessary at his own expense.

Currently Pluto, which is full of power and need for domination, is in the Monkey/Bladder part of his chart, which is also in Sag/early Cap on the western chart. That's like a triple Monkey. Monkeys are all about control and overriding that which doesn't fit his view of life. With Pluto there, there is a strong need for power and control. No one who runs for president doesn't want the power. Saturn, as it left Leo.....which is strange that for all the angst Saturn afforded to Leos the previous two years, Obama has largely rode the wave over and thru it without much problem - has been going thru the 7th house in the Dragon area where it met Pluto. With Pluto in the Dragon area, he has a strong appetite for power, which isn't necessarily bad. Someone has to do it and would need the desire to go thru all the hell it takes to get it. When I was growing up the adage was that mothers dreamed of their sons at that time growing up to be president. I don't think most mothers would wish that on their sons or daughters in this era.

If you'll notice, Saturn traversed Leo for the previous 2 1/2 years, where the chickens came home to roost. At the same time, your Leo friends have been far more stident and controlling in the past few years. With Pluto going thru the Monkey part of the chart, the need to over ride and control.....and be in denial, has been strong. Now, your Virgo friends are beginning to dig in their heels as Leos are reaching the end....or at least in the middle, depending on when their birthdate is. Obama's Pluto is in the middle.

2/22/08 - well, having said what I did before we had the birth certificate time, I did vote for him. Wrestled with it all day, election day, and even tho I support Hillary, knowing her Neptune-swoon was about to happen, I figured it would be better to go with Obama, who is tall and articulate, and will hopefully lead us into the future. (hah! Didn't know he had Aquarius rising when I said that - a typical Aquarian thing to do)

But, being part of the ground swell that sees him taking the democratic nomination by storm, it now concerns me that those who would not want him to be president, and didn't really think he'd overtake Hillary, are now seeing the reality of the situation....And, Barack does not have good 'stars' coming up in the summer. Uranus is moving in to oppose Mars.....Mars is cars, Mars is guns and knives, Mars is agressiveness, and Uranus, of course, is something sudden, out of the blue, and while Aquarians like to look at it as creating change for the good, we also have to take into consideration that it's also violence. Saturn is conjuncting Pluto for all those born in and around the early 60's, and it's usually a time of oppression and intimidation....but it could also signal for him problems from those in power. That was written in February, and Aquarius being airplanes, it expressed as the airplane he was in dropping precariously in late June/early July. As Saturn opposes Uranus for the end of 2008 and most of 2009, they will still be flirting with Mars.

In the early 70's, Pluto squared his Venus, usually a time of 'power over' in some form, male or female, and now Pluto opposes Venus and inconjuncts the moon....what happened when he was 11-12 years old, is coming up for review; different actors are in the 'roles' but the energy will be the same. Pluto transits are always a time that lead us to be stronger people.

So, in being part of the ground swell, I'm wondering if we're doing him any favors.

4/29/08 - Rev. Jeremiah Wright was born on September 22, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. If we look at a composite chart between Wright and Obama, we find that their composite Pluto is 21 of Leo, where Saturn went over sometime last year, and their composite Venus and sun are at 5 of Virgo, and composite Mercury is at 12 Virgo. Right now, Saturn is about ready to go direct at 1 degree of Virgo, and go over all their Virgo composite key points.

A composite with a Sun and Venus together would say that these people liked each other, but when Saturn went over Pluto it triggered a power struggle, and then as Saturn starts to go direct over these Virgo placements (which it has already done once since it moved into Virgo last September) it would show that it would strain the relationship and cause a break.
