Well, of course Bill Maher is an Aquarian....those who are 'politically incorrect' tend to be Aquarians who go against the tide and challenge authority. ....In fact, it amazes me that Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney are Aquarians.....it just goes completely against type. But Aquarius is also a fixed sign, which we sometimes forget. Yet, Aquarians aren't all new age liberals; they are teachers, and mathematicians, and space explorers, and.....astrologers. The Aquarian energy is part of the "Big Bang" and Uranus and higher mathematics and computers and higher knowledge. When Uranus and Pluto met up in 1966, Pluto gave power of the Uranian energy to the masses, and computers became household items...and kids born of that time are just naturally computer inclined.
But even before that, as Uranus pulled in to Pluto's orbit, the people born in that era were more inclined than in generations past to see the world from a new perspective.
Bill Maher was born on January 20, 1956, at 10:32 PM, Est, in New York. He's an Aquarian with a Taurus moon and Libra rising. His Sun sign is 'guarded' on either side by Pallas and Chiron. On the one hand, it gives him an even more brilliant mind and capable of seeing patterns in things, and on the other side, Chiron makes him a wounded healer.
Neptune late in the first house....well, an ethereal beauty he's not; but remember that Neptune is also that of higher consciousness and it and Uranus see the big picture. In this case, it seems as if Bill uses the media (of which Uranus and Nepune are symbols) to bring perspective to the public.
Saturn and Mars conjunct in Sag in the second house would indicate that money doesn't come easily for him; he has to earn it, and the two planets together give a rather harsh side to his normally jocular veneer. While he dislikes authority, being an Aquarian, there are elements in his personality that may dislike it because of treatment as a child.
The moon in Taurus aspects almost every planet and asteroid in his chart, saying that his mom, and women and emotions are the central focus of his life. Just because he's Aquarian and a Dog in Chinese terms, that eschews matrimony, doesn't mean he doesn't like women. The Uranus (Aquarius) conj Pluto of the 60's brought love-without-commitment into the standard norm.
Uranus in Leo in the 10th house gives him the platform for entertaining in his career, on tv (Uranus) and being politically incorrect (Uranus). Uranus is the planet directly behind Pluto, so becomes the destiny planet as well. Pluto, with Jupiter nearby at the end of Leo, is where the money comes from, because the 11th is also the money house of the career, and here we have power and luck. The 11th house rules tv and Pluto in the 11th gives him the energy to sway the masses.
With Uranus in the 10th, the ruling planet of his Aquarius sun, and his destiny planet, it also shows his disdain for organized religion.
Chinese Astrology: Bill was born in the Year of the Monkey, the Month of the Dog, the Hour of the Boar, and the Minute of the Tiger. 1956 is a tricky year, because it's the year Saturn squares Pluto, and the Year of the Monkey, which brings in another element of power and control. The Monkey deals with denial, a strong will, and a desire to have things go his way. With S/P there, it indicates a probable tough childhood. The Monkey metaphor can be a spider monkey, jumping around from tree, or it can do all the way up to a gorilla or King Kong, depending on the vice like grip on control.
Born in the month of the Dog, we see his desire to be a bachelor and not be married. It correlates to the Aquarian energy which is more comfortable in casual settings than intimate ones. It's also part of his desire to be politically incorrect and bust the bubble on pomposity.
Born in the Hour of the Boar, he may have issues with depression. He needs to be bucked up and be around people who keep him viewing the positive aspects of life.
Born in the Minute of the Tiger, he wants to be recognized and be seen; hates being ignored. There can be issues with self image and self esteem.
