As the fall elections approach in 2006, it has been revealed that Congressman Mark Foley, R, Florida, has been accused of allegedly sending sexually explicit messages to senate pages. It has also been alleged that the Republican hierarchy knew about it and were unwilling to do anything about it, at least until the election, to ensure they would keep the seat. Foley immediately resigned, went in to rehab and whined that 'poor me' I'm gay, an alcoholic and was abused by a priest as a child......

Boo hoo.....that's what a Plutonian will do when the jig is up. Foley was born on September 8, 1954 , at 4:55 am EDT in Needham, Massachusetts according to the Astro Databank. Other places list Newton, Mass. He is a Virgo, with a Capricorn moon and late Leo/mostly Virgo, rising, with Pluto on the cusp of the 1st house, lurking from the 12th.

Pluto on the cusp of the 1st makes him a "Plutonian", which can be used for good or evil. On the negative side, they can be predator or prey. It's as if the Leo/Virgo rising has been turned into Scorpio rising. A Plutonian of this description is what is called a mysogynist or narcissist in this day and age. A negative Plutonian will manipulate and cajole and undermine and turn the lives of others upside down to get what they want. They can literally make you think black is white and doubt your very sanity. THEN, if for some reason it doesn't work, they belly up and go "poor me. pity me. it's not my fault"....no, you just didn't get your way this time, Foley. You weren't able to weasil out of it like it sounds like you did before.

On the surface, it doesn't look like there is much aspecting Pluto in Foley's chart....Uranus is quicunxing at 28degrees from Cancer, and Neptune is sextiling 59 degrees from Libra. Yet, looking closer, the moon is 142 degrees in Capricorn (almost an inconjunct in one direction -150 degrees - or almost a sesquiquadrate - 135 degrees in the other direction), Mercury is 34 degrees away in Libra (almost a quincunx), Venus is 65 degrees away in Scorpio (almost a sextile), Jupiter is close to Uranus and a quincunx in Cancer. Maybe astronomers think Pluto is a dwarf Planet or no planet at all, but I give the little dickens a wider orb than 5 degrees give or take.....it's energy is just too potent. Then, with all these planets aspecting Pluto and directed at the ascendant, it makes much more sense. Pluto represents power and sex, and in Washington, D.C., the seat of power of the world, where power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, the temptations are there on a daily basis.

The moon, representing mother, is a very focused planet here - conjuncting Mars, an angry mother - and opposes Jupiter/Uranus conjunct in Cancer - opposed his 'luck'? - is at the apex of a yod from Vesta sextile Pluto, trines the sun, yet squares Mercury/Juno/Pallas. And, when we put the Chinese chart over it we find that good ol' mom was most likely a Monkey type, probably controlling, and denying anything outside her world. With Chiron nearby to the moon, she's quite possibly a wounded healer, or she could be the subject of his wounding perhaps.

Interestingly, the other half of the Master YOD (Neptune sextile Pluto), Neptune, aspects all sorts of things more closely. It squares the moon, conjuncts Venus, squares Jupiter and Uranus, with Saturn wide. The Yod points at the 8th house of sex, death, rebirth. Neptune, of course, is the hidden, sabotage, spin doctoring, drugs, clandestine, if we look at it from that perspective in relation to politics. When the outlying planets - Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn - aspect the sun and moon, we often find extremes in personality. The Moon squaring Neptune - shared by Karl Rove and Arnold Schwarzennegger - indicates someone who is senstive to alcohol; one might even say allergic to it.....something we should stay away from, but are drawn to it. Frances Sakoian says in The Astrologer's Handbook", that people with Moon square Neptune "frequently indicates emotional indulgence which is manifested in addiction, often to drugs or alcohol." She also states there can be delusions of grandeur and unealistic ambitions. With the moon opposing Uranus (with Jupiter nearby) - also shared by Arnold Schwarzenegger - , Sakoian writes, "This opposition can indicate emotional perverseness and instability. ....often the natives make many new and sudden acquaintances but as a rule these will not endure long."

Venus, the planet of love and romance, is clinging to the Master Yod near Neptune, giving him an artistic ability I would think, but Saturn is on the other side, closer. Neptune is Unreality with a capital U and Saturn is Reality with a capital R. The two obviously don't mix. Some father/authority figure was harsh with him as a child, and then at an early age, Neptune went over both planets (in Scorpio, the sign of power and sex no less) and turned things upside down. Where there was at least stability even if it was negative probably, now Neptune just washes it all away and there's no place to stand. After that when Foley was about 3-4 years old, Pluto sextiled Venus/Saturn. Now, that should be positive, except that sextiles create yods remember, power points that meet 150 degrees at the other side of the chart. In this instance it's in the 8th house of sex, and put the Chinese chart overlay over it and it's pointing to Dog energy, which can either be open about sex, thinking it's a normal, natural thing, or be very inhibited about it. In some cases, when people are intimidated and/or inhibited about sex, relationships with children where they can have power over, becomes more appealing.

Jupiter conjunct Uranus is one of the luckiest aspects around. In Cancer (real estate, home, mother) in the 11th house of the media, it would give him a wide appeal when he ran for office. Yet, it's not that far from squarinig Venus, and Uranus/Venus aspects at times can signify gay. Interestingly, it runs the gamut from womanizing to gay, and yet, some people have other things modifying it and it doesn't express that way.
