WESTERN ASTROLOGY: President George W. Bush's birth information is listed as July 6th, 1946 at 7:26 am. EDT in New Haven Connecticut. The sensitive Cancerian energy is hidden in the 12th house. His forte is really 'behind the scenes'. Yet his Leo rising, encompassed between Saturn and Pluto brings him out. Leo loves the limelight, and Saturn/Pluto love power and all that it can accomplish for him. Yet, he isn't as gregarious as his predecessor, Pres. Bill Clinton, born a month later. That's because having Pluto on the horizon is like having Scorpio rising.....there's a tug of war going on between his desire for privacy and secrecy and the desire to be in the spotlight and be adored. In 1946, Saturn was moving in to conjunct Pluto. Very early in his life, on October 7, 1946 to be exact, Saturn went over the horizon, conjuncted Pluto and Mercury, and spent 2 1/2 years in his first house. This says that it wasn't a happy time for a new born. In some respects it's better that one is born before a major conjunction such as this, rather than later, because Saturn is the lighter, faster energy....if 'lighter' can be a Saturn adjective! At about the same time, the Sun, which squared Neptune at birth, moved to conjunct Saturn, and then Chiron and the moon.....it was a hard time for a 2 1/2 month old baby.....It might have been on the physical plane, or because Mercury is involved, at the ascendant, it could have been some words spoken, and the vibration touched his soul chillingly. Saturn is no wilting lily. ...and the combination with Pluto would say that something happened in his early life that affected him deeply, and would provide a deep rooted, subconscious motivation for his life experience. Almost all of his planets are on the left side of the chart, which tells us that he's someone who acts and thinks later. Those with planets on the right side of the chart predominantly, sit back and watch what others do and then decide their moves. When we have someone in prominence, the aspects to the outer planets become more meaningful. In Bush's case, Pluto conjuncts Mercury, and Neptune squares the natal Sun. In 2003, Renana Brooks, PhD, who is a clinical psychologist practicing in Washington DC, wrote an article about Bush for "The Nation", where she spoke of the president as one who is generally thought of as a mangler of the English language, but that, in actuality, he is a master of emotional language, which is the intentional use of language to dominate others. This is the perfect definition of Pluto conjunct Mercury, and is compounded by the fact, that it is on the horizon and is connected to Saturn. Then, we have the Sun squaring Neptune. To begin with, Neptune in the 3rd, fairly close to the moon, would say he could be a good writer, and a writer of fiction...or maybe poetry. But the sun squaring it would say that he was probably told that wasn't a 'manly' thing to do. Neptune/Pisces energy doesn't like confrontation and it can mean communication is edited and rehearsed for the person hearing it. In "The Astologer's Handbook", Frances Sakoian says of this aspect: "This is the aspect of self-deception par excellence. If the natives are mystially inclined, they often consider themselves the chosen vessels of some Master or Divine Being. The belief is often the result of an unconscious desire for importance...." Now, the Sun squares Neptune twice a year, and it depends on other aspects in the chart how strongly this energy is manifested. In Bush's 4th house is Scorpio. The ruling planet, of course, is Pluto, so the Saturn/Mercury/Pluto conjunction is tied to the house of mother....and Barbara Bush is known to be a formidable woman. His tenth house of father and career, has Aries on the cusp, and Taurus encapsulated (all 30 degrees of the sign in one house with the previous sign being the ingress and the next sign being the egress). Taurus' planet, Venus, is in Leo as well, and was the first planet Pluto conjuncted after birth, in 1951. Any contact of Pluto to another planet is a time of intense learnng experiences; and one always comes out the other side changed.

CHINESE ASTROLOGY George W. was born in the Year of the Dog, the month of the Cat, the hour of the Cat, and the minute of the Boar. George W. is about a month and a half older than Bill Clinton. He too, was born in the year of the Dog. Clinton, as the 42nd president, played out the qualities of the Dog energy in the United State's chart. The Dog energy asks us to be authentic and not edit or rehearse who we are. It calls upon people born in the energy of the Dog to alchemize love with sex and not see it as two isolated expressions. The Dogs who do this become people who can commit and who are comfortable in intimate encounters....those who haven't often get 'cold feet' when it comes to a permanent relationship. The Dog archetype relates to the peridardium or circulation-sex meridian, which is the sac which protects the heart. Dog people often hold themselves back from real relationships so as not to get their heart broken again. His 7th house of marriage has 7 of Aquarius on the cusp and is split between The Dog and Boar energy, showing that his wife mirrors this energy for him. Women born with Dog enegy tend to be prim and proper and shy, as Mrs. Bush seems to be. Female Dogs - and she was born in the year of the Dog as well, can be inhibited and not be comfortable with sex and see it only for procreation. In fact, with Pluto moving thru the Dog section for Scorpios, they haven't been as interested in sex as they naturally are for the 12 years prior to taking the presidency. Geo W. was born in the month of the Cat and the Hour of the Cat, being 6:26 am standard time. The Cat energy suffers from bouts of inferiorty. They can feel like they never measure up, and have neuroses. He may be president, but he may still not feel he has the approval of those most important to him. Cat people often have adults in their formative years who criticize them and make them feel less than okay. The Cat can grow up to turn that around and wield control by keeping people off center by keeping them in their place. The Cat who has high self esteem or good self esteem will not spear that arrow. We find the archetype of the Boar in the minute of his birth. This is his achilles' heel. The Boar represents the triple warmer energy whose emotions fluctuate between hope and hopelessness; "self-construction" (tm) vs self-destruction. This undoubtedly makes him more dour than his Clinton counterpart. The Boar energy must stay with positive people and see the positive side of life, not to fall into despair. The Boar energy abhors humiliation and ridicule and will go to great lengths not to experience it. From the Chinese perspective, the Sheep and Monkey energy are at the base of Bush's chart in the 4th house. This energy is his foundation as well as representing his mother. The Sheep can be victor or victim, the Monkey is control. It would say that whatever victimization that may or may not have occurred in the first half of life.... the energy of his foundation then shifted to control; determined that it would never happen again. With the Monkey energy from the Chinese system at the bottom of his chart, ie his 'foundation and roots" , an analogy is the 3 Monkeys of "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" fame- "Evil" being anything that does not agree with him. so he goes into denial. Not willing to step back from his dogma, not willing to look at anything but his world as he's constructed it; terming anything else as evil. The Rat energy is at the top of his chart, representing his career and father. The Rat can be abandoned and betrayed by the person it represents, or on the positive side, that person can adore him. It could say that in his career, he can be betrayed or be the betrayor.
| 11/17/05 - Currently, what had been going his way has done a 180. The biggest part of this is Pluto sesquiquadrating itself (135 degrees) and Neptune sesqui'g itself at the same time. In Bush's case, Pluto is also sesqui'g his ascendant and Mercury. You've read elsewhere where Neptune and Pluto created what I call the "Master YOD" in 1941, and is still in effect, sextiling each other, more or less since then. Now, it's as if Pluto is in power and control and it seems it will always be....then Neptune comes along and just wipes it out, like it was a mirage that never was real. I think that's what happened to John Kerry at the last election for he was born in 1943 and it happened to him earlier. Pluto is sesqui'ng the Leo ascendant and planets now, and Neptune will move in to the 135 degree position to itself in 2007; but it's right there - it doesn't have far to go, so it's in effect.
At the same time Uranus in Pisces, is at the apex of the natal Master Yod. Pluto is 10 of Leo, Neptune is 5 of Libra, at his birth, with Mars inbetween at 9 Virgo as the trigger. Uranus has been moving back and forth at the apex of the Yod, opposing natal Mars all year (2005). It has often been written in astrology, that the president elected in a "0" year, doesn't live out the presidency. The last one before Bush was President Ronald Reagan. He lived, but with the Alzheimer's, did he really? So far, Bush has eluded this potent aspect this year, flirting with Mars opposition and the Master Yod point. On a mid point system I've developed, I would say that February 2006 is a crucial time. If he makes it through, then 2006 and 2007 will see the Pluto and Neptune sesquiquadrates doing their thing, and the house of cards falling all around.
P.S. I'm working on a new book about the United States and its presidents, and how they show up in the U.S. chart and what energies they represent. They fall into 6 categories. It's interesting to note, that George W falls into the list with Richard Nixon, and there are constant references to Nixon and Watergate and how things are parallelled now. This list of presidents is found in the Boar area, and as mentioned above under Bush's minute of birth and achilles' heel, the Boar deals with depression and at it's most negative, self destruction.
