Barry Bonds Chart

(8/07 - Well, Barry succeeded and beat Hank Aaron's record. Good for him. It's too bad Saturn had to be going thru his birth sign, Leo, during his quest. We think of baseball as a sport; a pure athletic event. In actuality, it's an entertainment BUSINESS. And as a business, profit is the bottom line. For all of Barry's ego and participation, to me the duplicity of MLB and the Giants is the height of hypocrisy. The last 33 games the Giants played were to sell out crowds, consecutively. Would that have happened to a last place team if Barry wasn't going for the record? Bud Selig showing his disapproval in the stands, humph! They probably relished every minute of it.

At some point, ball players started taking vitamins and started lifting weights. In truth, Babe Ruth's record was probably the greatest because he was hardly the epitome of an athlete at that point......let's just draw a line somewhere in the 90's, and say that was before this is now, and we all love the home run and it gave us lots of enjoyment and let it go at that. Surely, before it's over, Barry will have hit nearly 800, so he probably would have come close or beat it anyway. He still had to hit 'em, whether he had any boost or not.

Baseball is an Entertainment Business, and as such Barry Bonds gave them what they wanted.)

Life hasn't been good for Barry Bonds in the last few years. Oh sure, he's close to home run records that will take a long time, if ever, to equal; but he's lived under a cloud of potential scandal. It's hard to enjoy your success when you have all this other stuff going on with which you have to contend.

If the stories are true, Bonds was jealous of Mark McGwire's status and decided he would do what he had to do, to equal and move past him, and hoped it wouldn't affect his health. Yes, Bonds is a Leo who needs the adulation of the crowd; yes, Bonds is a Leo who needs to HAVE as much as he can get of everything, but on the other side, it was the corporations who made billions off of him, who turned their eyes and pretended it wasn't happening. Corporations are for the bottom line; they have little conscience. So, what if Bonds is a vegetable at 50? Doesn't look like he's moving too well even now. He made millions for himself, but, more importantly, multi millions for others, so he's expendable.

Barry Bonds was born on July 24, 1964 in Riverside, California, at 5:13 pm PDT. He is the son of baseball great Bobby Bonds, and his godfather is Willie Mays. His Leo sun is opposed by his Aquarius moon, which as we've seen, his parents weren't getting along too well at his birth.

A Leo/Aquarius opposition is a real dichotomy. Leo loves the limelight, Aquarius loves the fame. But the Aquarius energy can love humanity and at the same time they tend to be lone wolfs......they really don't like to be around a lot of people.....hence Bonds' not speaking with the press and being at odds with his teammates. Leos have the tendency not to be a team player without other aspects. They are the star and don't need anyone.

Interestingly, as Bonds goes thru a real mine field, he has no real Pluto aspects in his natal chart, other than sextiling Neptune which everyone now adays has, and conjuncts Uranus, which was in effect for a number of years in the early 60s....it's more a generational effect. It just depends on where it is in the chart.....actually, if we look at it closer, Pluto is at 12 Virgo, and the moon in this natal chart is 5 of Aquarius, so the moon (which has an orb of 10 degrees either way) inconjuncts Pluto/Uranus, which would be a key point. It as an inconjunct; energy that doesn't work well together. ....as the moon represents the populace in a country's chart, it might well do the same in that of a celebrity's. I also look at the last planet behind Pluto in a chart as the destiny planet; that which we are here to learn in our lifetime. In this case, being Uranus, he is being an instrument to bring change to the status quo.

Looking elsewhere in his chart, Barry has Venus and Mars in Gemini which would give him quick reflexes, and he has Mars in the 7th house; and we know that Mars on an angle frequently indicates a sports player.

So, what's going on in Bonds' life????? Neptune in Aquarius is squaring his natal Neptune in Scorpio. Neptune was in Scorpio for about 15 years, so everyone born in the 60's will have this at some point now, either a little earlier or later. It's also interesting that with Neptune natally in Scorpio, (and Scorpio being under ground and things held in secret) that we are having a drug problem being exposed at this time.

It's not like baseball has been free of players taking risks to beat the system. But, baseball kind of looked the other way and was bemused by it at most; Gaylord Perry's pitching, for example. But, now we have Neptune in the picture, and Neptune rules drugs. And for guys born in the early-middle 60's, Neptune is now squaring it's natal position. Add to that, Uranus has come to the opposing point in its trek, opposing itself, so Uranus is throwing on the lights and exposing all this.

On top of this, Saturn has moved into Leo, and has conjuncted his natal sun, and that's always a stressful time when we're called to task and graded on the way we handle our lives. It also says it's a good time for Leos in general to drive by the rules and regs and not try to get away with anything, for they are less likely to do so when Saturn is going thru their sun sign.

Because Bonds is going for the lead in home runs, he's being singled out, where there obviously have been hundreds of players doing this on one level or the other. In 2006, Bonds has, in addition to Neptune squaring Neptune and Uranus opposing Uranus, we have Pluto opposing Mars (power struggle to sports) Uranus opposing Pluto (individualism vs. domination) and Pluto opposing Venus coming up in September. In his natal chart, Venus is 23 of Gem while Pluto is 12 of Virgo. By 1969, Pluto had moved to square Venus, when he was about 5 years old. This is sometimes a time of some sort of control or even abuse, and now Pluto has moved on to oppose Venus, and that energy is coming up again for review. It's as if different "actors" are in the "roles" acting out the same core scenario, to show him again and show him that he's an adult now, and can handle it from an adult's point of view.

Currently, Pluto has moved over his ascendant, so that all the machinations behind the scenes during Pluto's 12 year stint is now coming the the surface. It's going thru the Bladder meridian on the Chinese level, so that he's trying to control what the media learns. He's had his Pluto Square (where Pluto moves 90 degrees away from itself and creates an intense learning period) but as long as Pluto is in the Bladder area in his 1st house (til 2009) there will be a power struggle to keep his lifestyle intact. Also, when Pluto goes thru the first in anyone's chart, there's always (as in 99% chance) that there'll be a tug of war in his marriage.

CHINESE ASTROLOGY

Barry was not only born in the month of the Dragon, but the Year as well. A Double Dragon! Wow! Well, the Dragon loves the limelight. If he was a CPA he would have to be the one that stood out at the water fountain. The Dragon is a Leo energy, so it loves to be the center of attention, the need to feel the adulation. Like Sally Field winning the academy award and saying "You like me! You really like me!" (she's a Scorpio, but Leo is in her 10th house of career) I thought that was sooooooo real and genuine, and yet she got a lot of flack for it. We are all looking for acceptance and approval, and she was genuine enough to say so. That's the Leo. They do feel it's their job to lighten the load of others and entertain them.

Dragons also need to HAVE things, simply to have them. They may not use them for long periods of time, but they have them and that's the main thing. It fills their emptiness to have their things around them.

The Dragon pattern (like in western astrology, the 4 angles of the Chinese chart create a pattern of the sign), has, at it's foundation, the Sheep/Small Intestine meridian. There is a base of victimization here that needs to be handled young, so they don't fall into the traps that others plant for them. At the top of the pattern is the Ox/Liver, which falls in the 10th house of father, so he had someone, probably dad, who gave him everything he wanted, and kept him beholden to him.....and used to all the trappings of a successful life.

He was born in the hour of the Monkey, so he can stonewall things and create a world where he functions comfortably and will not be pulled out of it. He lives in a world of his own making and doesn't want to see reality at times. This is also a stubborn sign that needs to control his Fate.....and then Neptune comes into to make folly of all that. His Minute Animal is the Cat, which can make him a work-a-holic.

While Barry Bonds has to take responsibility for his actions (a Sheep thing - be responsible for your own actions, but don't take on the actions of someone else to protect them), the corporate atmosphere which created the situation must be taken into account too. After all, when you come down to it, it's just a game. It's just entertainment. And it would be horrible if Bonds went from the height of success to a vegetable, since we don't know what these pharmaceuicals will do. Already, we've seen Jason Giambi with some sort of benign brain tumor, and one has to wonder whether that was related to the steroids or not? There's a lot of stress and presssure to be succcessful in sports, and we, as spectators should be content with natural talent and abilities and not create super powers at the expense of the person's life.
